Please join us this Sunday at 6 p.m. for music and meditation as we celebrate the season. Admission is free, but we ask that audience members bring a gift for our Share-a-Gift toy drive:
Share-A-Gift is an all-volunteer, annual holiday project that seeks to provide toys, bikes and books for less fortunate children in the Boulder Valley School District. 519 families (1327 children) received gifts from Share-A-Gift's 2013 Toy Shop, and even more families and children beyond Boulder received gifts during the following week. For children whose families struggle to pay utility and food bills, the possibility of a special toy may be just a dream. Share-A-Gift strives to alleviate anxieties by enabling parents to select gently used toys and one new toy for each of their children up to age 14. Please help us bring smiles and raise the Holiday spirit of our entire community by supporting Share-A-Gift, which is coordinated with the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. This year the toys, bikes and books will be distributed on Saturday December 20th. To be successful, Share-A-Gift needs thousands of new and gently used toys, books, bikes, games and puzzles, and gifts for older children (12-14) as well. Share-A-Gift allows children to meaningfully participate in gift-giving by sharing their own toys and books with families who will appreciate getting them. Volunteers are needed December 17-18 to sort toys, December 20 to help give them away, and December 21 to pack up supplies. Tax deductable donations can be made on the website or mailed directly to Share-A-Gift, P.O. Box 17595, Boulder CO 80308. For further information about Share-A-Gift or to volunteer, please visit http://www.shareagift.org, call JoAnn at 720 446 TOY1 (8691), or e-mail [email protected].

This Sunday we're exploring how the ultimate reality and plane of existence is "Love". We'll observe how the clarity of that reality can be clouded by both internal and external influences. Radiohead's song "Street Spirit (fade out)" is about how life and one's struggles can become overbearing, and how they are largely inevitable. It also pleads that the way to mitigate these constant forces pulling us down is to "Immerse your soul in love!". We'll look forward to sharing in the contemplations on Sunday. Until then feel free to turn up the volume and enjoy... (the band will give this song a go on Sunday) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrTB-iiecqk This Sunday we're celebrating the return of our fantastic children's program headed up by Emily L'Hommedieu. Several years ago Pine Street Church decided to reinvest in the future by designating funding for a new, innovative, and dynamic children's program. This week our band will share a song that expresses this enthusiasm for the miracle and importance that children are and should be. The great Stevie Wonder wrote this song about his daughter Aisha Morris shortly after she was born. Its difficult to disagree with the pure joy expressed in both the music and lyrics. Enjoy this timeless song, and we'll look forward to seeing everyone Sunday! This Sunday as we delve deeper into living a more faith centered life we'll explore a song that expresses concern over the dangers that one's beliefs can pose. There is a difference between the faith and belief that allowed Jesus to travel to Jerusalem when he knew that it would lead to his own death and the faith and beliefs that "justified" his execution. This is our special music this week: |
