Children and Youth Education
Children are one of God’s greatest gifts to the world. At Pine Street Church we recognize that all children are sacred, and all questions are honored and appreciated. We welcome children of all cultural backgrounds, family structures, and developmental states. Our mission is to give children the spiritual tools that they will need throughout the journey of life.
Since we believe we are spiritual beings, and because we feel that a spiritual life is a journey and not a destination, we don’t tell children what they should believe; rather we give them the tools to form their own faith. Respecting their evolving individual beliefs and religious choices, it’s our goal to guide children towards the path of kindness and compassion with a deep connection to God and all of creation. We honor the fact that neither God nor your child fits within a box, by using inclusive language and celebrating our differences.
All children learn differently, and therefore we approach learning from many different angles. On any given Sunday, one can expect to see children at the Pine Street Church learning about the inclusive and forgiving ways of Jesus, and experiencing God through music, art, drama, food, games, movement, and much more.
We are committed to creating and maintaining a safe environment for children, and therefore all volunteers who work with our children must accept our Children and Youth Protection Policy and agree to a background check.

A Place for Your Family
Grow together in faith at Pine Street Church. Your family is welcome here no matter your race, country of origin, religion, political preference, sexual orientation, family structure, or economic status. No one is required to change in order to be welcomed here. Come as you are. In spite of our individual uniqueness, we are one body, united, working together as the hands and feet of our good, loving, and redeeming God.
Infants and Toddlers
The Infant/Toddler room is staffed by a certified Infant Nursery Supervisor. We observe NAEYC guidelines for teacher to child ratios. The focus of this program is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the littlest members of our congregation. Our Infant/Toddler room is located on the 2nd floor. You may drop off your child as early as 9:00 am. While the room is always staffed with a certified nursery supervisor, parents are welcome to utilize the room for nursing, napping, or just a break from the service.

Preschool
Our Preschool program is designed for children ages 3-5. The main focus of this program is to introduce the big ideas of faith in an age appropriate way. Themes we explore include “Making Friends,” “God is our Friend,” “Giving Thanks,” “Who is Jesus,” and “Exploring Creation.” Our Preschool room is located on the 2nd floor, across from the Infant/Toddler room. In addition to crafts, activities, and circle time, the Preschoolers have free-play time, in our stations-based classroom. Preschool children may be dropped off as early as 9:45 am.

Elementary Grades
Elementary aged children continue to build upon the foundational ideas of spirituality explored in the preschool curriculum in FAITH CAMP, our Elementary Sunday morning program. We explore stories from Hebrew and Christian scriptures as well as other faith traditions through music, art, drama, games, cooking, movement, and many other avenues, relating the story to its meaning in the ancient world and the modern world. Our Elementary classroom is located on the 2nd floor. This room is equipped with a smart board, several activity stations, and a full set of Orff instruments. Elementary aged children attend the beginning portion of the service until the “children’s moment” as specified in the bulletin. After this time all of the elementary kids head upstairs together.
Youth Ministry
Our youth ministry is focused on providing a welcoming community for students where they can develop in their relationship with God and with each other. We seek to nurture the spiritual lives of students through Bible study, discipleship, fellowship, and worship. Through our ministry to students, we desire to lead students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe that that relationship will be evidenced in a deepening faith in God, community with fellow Christians, and a desire to serve others. Youth ministry is an active, relational endeavor. We like to hang out together as often as possible. Times of Bible study are interspersed with games, laughter, and lots of food. But, we don’t just hang out and feed our spirits and bodies. Our youth ministry is concerned about the world around us. Through mission projects and summer mission trips, our students are the hands and feet of Christ to a world in need.
We would love to walk alongside you and your family as a part of this community of faith. Follow us on Facebook and check back here often to keep up with all that is going on in our ministry.
