Becoming Christian. Being Christian. Staying Christian?
Led by Rev. Andrew Daugherty, will meet Mondays beginning October 2nd—December 11th (except for Monday, November 20th) from 6:30—8:00pm at the home of Andrew Daugherty and Alicia Andersen-Daugherty (Lafayette, CO)
Group Description:
Do you find yourself spiritually restless? Have you ever been curious what re-imagining your faith could look like? Are you fascinated with the teachings and actions of Jesus but have some doubt about his followers and the church who claims his name? Sometimes the reasons we become a Christian are not the reasons we continue to choose a Christian identity. For others, leaving Christian identity altogether has been a viable option to consider. Join us for this 10-week series and connect with others on a journey to creatively explore becoming Christian, being Christian, and what staying Christian could mean for those of us who are eager to embody a Christian spiritual path that is pro-justice, pro-kindness, pro-humility, and pro-Jesus. This small group will take on this adventure through the lens of the book “Do I Stay Christian?” by Brian McLaren.
Leader's Biography:
Andrew Daugherty has been the senior pastor of Pine Street Church since 2017. He holds degrees in religion and theology from Belmont University and Wake Forest University Divinity School. Andrew is the co-author with Anne Scalfaro of “Hebrews (Preaching the Word” and a contributing author of “Pub Theology and Beyond: New Options for Religious Discourse.” He has written for such publications as The Huffington Post, Baptist News Global, and The Boulder Daily Camera. He is passionate about helping others connect through small group community and re-imagining a faith that is alive and vibrant for the times of our lives and the life of our times. He is married to Alicia, an artist and teacher. They are the parents of four beautiful and soulful children.

Introduction to Sacred Movement, led by Debbie Setlock, starts September 27th at 6:30pm and meets on Wednesdays for 5 weeks.
Group Description:
This 5-week class offers a lovely blend of gentle movement and reflection, integrating body and spirit. Throughout history, people have danced or moved as part of their prayers. In this class we will explore movements that are gentle and adaptable. Participants can use a chair or bring a yoga mat. No experience is necessary, just a willing curious heart. It’s not a yoga, Tai Chi or modern dance class, but I may draw from those traditions. Our focus is spiritual exploration, using the language of the body to support our efforts. Most movement meditations are about 15 minutes in length. Handouts will be provided for reference and personal study. Just as prayer or meditation can be regular practices, this movement practice can also offer a way to explore our divine nature.
Leader's Biography:
What I offer most is a deep yearning to explore embodied sacred movement. It is my hope our group can collaborate and share ideas. I will come prepared to share what I have learned and welcome the synergy of our group experience. I’m excited about this class and have been in prayer for some time about its possible manifestations.
Required materials: None
