FROM SEARCH COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON
We have now entered the next phase of our search process and have a clearer picture of our candidates and the remaining process that will result in bringing a recommendation for our new spiritual leader to CoM and the congregation. At Monday evening's Pastoral Search Committee meeting a sense of increased energy and excitement was evident in the team as we worked on finalizing our Church Profile and creating a set of initial questions for the candidates. These questions are a way for us to go deeper with the candidates.
To give you a flavor of this very significant part of our search process, here are some of the ten questions that candidates are being asked to respond to: The part of my ministry that brings me the most joy is . . . My greatest challenge in ministry is . . . We want to grow Pine Street Church, how would you help us? What does it mean to you to hear that "we are an open and welcoming community?" God's love and grace are manifested in my ministry in the following ways . . .
By the time that you read this update the Candidate Questions and Church Profile will have arrived in each candidate's email inbox. We expect to have their responses to the questions returned to us for our next search team meeting in early April. Their personal responses will provide us with the opportunity to learn a lot more about these quality individuals. The actual interviewing process, including additional questions, reference checking and their questions of us will begin immediately following Easter.
I think there is good reason for us to be excited and grateful as we move into this highly-focused phase of our process. Please continue to pray for our team, our candidates, and our next opportunities for discerning God's choice of the new pastoral leader for Pine Street Church.
